Holy crap--something Michele Bachmann said actually makes sense!

Of course, she’s got an anti-universal health care stance, but as itsjustsummer points out, she inadvertently embraces the pro-choice angle:

“That’s why people need to continue to go to the town halls, continue to melt the phone lines of their liberal members of Congress, and let them know, under no certain circumstances will I give the government control over my body and my health care decisions.”

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), arguing against the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, inadvertently making a pro-choice argument. (via stillexperience)

Oh my god, SO FUCKING PRICELESS.

#Indeed!

See? We’re not that different after all.  Maybe someone can point out her little mistake and maybe she can see the other side, FOR ONCE. That’s the problem with too many politicians—they think they know what’s right.  Surprise, they don’t—bigger surprise: no one knows what’s right… for everyone.  That’s why protecting rights is supposed to be the government’s job, not socially engineering its citizens.

#duh.

From DemocracyNow.org: Prominent Climate Change Skeptic Received Over $1 Million From Oil, Coal Companies

From today’s DemocracyNow broadcast:

Prominent Climate Change Skeptic Received Over $1 Million From Oil, Coal Companies Greenpeace has revealed that one of the world’s most prominent scientific figures to be skeptical about climate change has admitted to being paid more than $1 million in the past decade by major U.S. oil and coal companies. The climate skeptic — Willie Soon — works as an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics. Since 2001, he has received money from ExxonMobil, the American Petroleum Insitute and Koch Industries along with Southern, one of the world’s largest coal-burning utility companies.

I tend to slam religious types, politicians and corporate execs for being corrupt.  I guess scientists are people, too.  I wonder if any Climate Change Deniers will be looking for money trails leading to and from the sources of their evidence against Climate Change.

An Interesting Question...

Everything is propaganda. It’s very tiring once you start to see it.

So where to from here? When you begin to notice the bars of the cage you’ve been raised in, where to? There must be a way to liberate yourself and others from the conditioned mind.

This is an interesting question.  I’m a writer of fiction, so I escape from the propaganda that I see everywhere by creating my own. I’m still an idealist, at heart, so I throw all of it in my writing.  You can get a flavor of how I do this by reading my first completed novel.  Of course, changing the world with my fiction is my long term solution.  Short term is blogging and podcasting about the things I see wrong with the world.

It’s still propaganda, since I’m promoting my agenda for the world, but who are you going to trust?  Some rich asshole or some artist/writer fella who really does want the world to be a better place?

666cast episode 60: Obama, George W., Hitler and the End of the World, for Realz yo.

Obama and gay marriage, Obama and George W., Hitler and George W., Hitler and the end of the world as we know it.

Some links to articles and stuff mentioned in this week’s 666cast:

“Backward at the FBI” NYTimes.com opinion piece on how Obama’s FBI is worse than George W.’s.

“My Ex-Gay Friend” NYTimes.com essay about a gay guy’s gay friend who, one day, decided to not be gay.

“Deploying New Tools to Stop the Hackers” Might as well be an opinion piece from NYTimes.com since it’s all pointless and no system is, or will ever be, hack-proof.  But read it anyway, you might learn something about journalistic hacks. ;)

“All Those Online Videos, Still Chasing an Audience” Another NYTimes piece—this one about that New Media Revolution which has yet to arrive.  Yeah, I’m waiting for it, too.

“Obama’s Views on Gay Marriage ‘Evolving’” Yeah right.  The “free” part of “the land of the free” is still horseshit so long as we humans can’t marry other consenting humans of our choice—without condition. Yep, it’s at the NYT’s site, too.

“Looking Back, Gates Says He’s Grown Wary of ‘Wars of Choice’” We had a choice to go into Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya? That’s funny, I don’t remember the American people being presented with a choice.  Listen to more about this NYT article in this week’s 666cast.

Finally, here’s the rss feed for the “Stuff You Should Know” podcast which is high on my “Podcasts You Should Listen To” list:

http://www.howstuffworks.com/podcasts/stuff-you-should-know.rss

Here’s that article about Thomas Malthus and the Earth’s Carrying Capacity:

http://www.howstuffworks.com/environmental/green-science/earth-carrying-capacity.htm

That’s a MUST read.  Seriously.

666cast episode 58: the End of Our World continues! Orwellian Obama! NY Times is Our Moral Barometer! MORE!

It’s hard to move on from the end of our world since it’s still slowly happening!  Never the less, we must try. This week: how the NY Times is a sad barometer of our morals, why DemocracyNow.org is a news source you MUST follow if you truly care about the world, how Obama is big-brothering all over the place, and how the ex-ceo of Blackwater is forming an international “GI Joe” team (in a bad way).
